Apple recently released the 2020 version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is three times faster than previous models and comes with twice the storage space. The new laptop also has a Magic Keyboard that offers “the best typing experience ever on a Mac notebook,” according to Apple. Here’s everything you need to know about the upgraded 13-inch MacBook Pro, including the new features, the price, the release date, and more.
Faster CPU and Better Graphics
Apple’s new MacBook Pro comes with a 10th-generation quad-core Intel CPU, which the company claims is almost three times faster than the previous model. It also has an updated graphic card, which Apple says is 80 percent faster than previous models.
Whether you’re editing videos, playing games, or anything in between, everything will be fast and smooth with the brilliant Retina display and upgraded graphics.
Magic Keyboard for Better Typing
The new MacBook Pro isn’t the first laptop to use Apple’s Magic Keyboard. In fact, the 16-inch version of the MacBook Pro and the new MacBook Air already have this keyboard. With the Magic Keyboard, typing on this portable device just became a whole lot better.
The Magic Keyboard is perhaps one of the 13-inch MacBook Pro’s biggest improvements. The previous models featured a “butterfly keyboard,” which was notoriously unpleasant to use. It also broke easily and was hard to repair. Thankfully, the Magic Keyboard is here to improve your typing experience.
With the Magic Keyboard, you get 1mm of key travel, so you can feel each key when you press on it. Aside from better typing feedback, the Magic Keyboard is more durable and stable. It also features a more ergonomic inverted-T placement for the arrow keys and a physical ESC key.
Upgraded Security Features of the New MacBook Pro
The new MacBook Pro also comes with the Apple T2 Security Chip. This chip checks whether programs that load upon booting are acting maliciously. This way, you’ll be much less likely to have a virus go unnoticed on your computer.
This chip also protects you by keeping your Touch ID data safe. When you use the Touch ID on the Magic Keyboard to confirm an online payment transaction or to unlock your MacBook Pro, this chip encrypts your data to keep you secure.
Twice the Storage Space
The 2020 version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with twice as much storage space as previous models. The four base models have a super-fast solid-state drive that has between 256GB and 1TB of storage space. This means you’ll have more space to store your photos, videos, and any other important files.
If you need more storage space, you also have the option to order a 13-inch MacBook Pro with up to 4TB of storage. Adding 2TB of storage space will cost you an additional $400, while adding 4TB costs $1,000.
