Do you know how many germs are crawling all over your phone right now? We do and it’s absolutely gross. Your smartphone goes everywhere with you (including the toilet) so it isn’t surprising that it carries germs and bacteria. When’s the last time you stopped to clean your phone? Keeping your device clean isn’t just a germophobe’s excuse to keep obsessing about cleanliness as it turns out.
If you don’t want to stick disease-causing microbes close to your face, learn the habit of cleaning your mobile devices the right way. Read on to know different ways how to clean your phone or sanitize other devices properly.
Use a UV Sanitizer
Got $100 to spare? Why not invest in a gadget that uses UV light to get rid of germs and clean your phone?
Put your devices inside the likes of the PhoneSoap 2.0 UV Sanitizer to sanitize them safely as well as charge them, too. We’ll never know for sure if they’re as effective as they claim, but having one is so much better than doing nothing at all!
Wipe It Down Often
You have to wipe your phone with anti-bacterial wipes often—that’s a given. A quick rubdown using any antibacterial wipes is a no-no, however. You see, such disinfectants are abrasive and can easily scratch your gadget’s surface.
We recommend you use the pre-moistened and sweet-smelling Wireless Wipes that contain non-corrosive, anti-bacterial solution to clean your phone. You could go for comprehensive cleaning kits like the Tech Armor Pro Cleaning Kit so you can do a weekly, thorough cleaning, too.
If you prefer making your own cleaning solution, get a hold of the following:
- A small spray bottle
- 70% isopropyl alcohol
- Distilled/bottled water
- Lint-free or microfiber cloth
All you need to do is fill the spray bottle halfway with water and the other half with alcohol. Shake the bottle to mix the solution and then spray the diluted alcohol mix on a microfiber cloth. It’s the kind of cloth material you use on glasses if you’re not familiar with it. Afterward, rub the cloth over your phone. Don’t forget to give the device’s button some love, too!
Clean Your Phone in the Crevices with Toothpicks and Q-Tips
It turns out that the tiny crevices in between the glass display and the phone’s case store lots of dirt. To clean out those parts, simply run a wooden toothpick through them and get ready to be grossed out. Run a dry cotton swab to take out any residual dust and gunk after.
You may also dip a fresh Q-Tip in the cleaning solution we’ve suggested previously and swirl it around the camera lens. Do so gently, though, because scratching the lens is certainly not the outcome you’d want.
It may sound frightening, but your mobile gadgets could be carrying your next bout with the flu. Learning how to properly clean and sanitize your devices (without damaging them) is, therefore, a skill you must know regardless of whether you own any of the best Android smartphones, the cool iPhone 7, or even tech gifts under $50. Your health and your electronic sidekicks will thank you when you do.
