One of the oldest cell phone manufacturers is Motorola. They were one of the first companies to develop the iconic flip phones. Motorola competed with Nokia during the days when phones were mostly keypads, and now it’s vying for a comeback.
However, Motorola is not going to be releasing a new phone, but a rebooted one. They are giving their old best-selling model a chance to compete again in the digital world.
The New Motorola Razr
There was news in mid-April that Motorola would release a new version of their Razr phone, which was popular during the rise of flip-phones.
The newest Motorola Razr is expected to feature 5.0 Bluetooth technology. The design will be a combination of the original 2004 design and an OLED folding display. It’s sure to bring back nostalgic memories of old flip phones.
This foldable display will be competing with upcoming phone models like Huawei’s Mate X, the Galaxy Fold by Samsung, and the unnamed folding phone from Xiaomi.

New Motorola Razr’s Release Date
The new Motorola flip phone is said to be launching in December with a $1,500 price tag. It will be competing with the price of the latest iPhone model and the upcoming folding Samsung Galaxy X. GSM Arena also stated that this new Motorola Razr will likely be a Verizon-exclusive with a limited supply of 200,000 available units.
New Motorola Razr Features and Designs
People are expecting the design to be similar to the well-loved 2005 Razr V3’s original model, but with a modern and updated twist. These schematics were spotted in a patent filed late last year, and this is broadly believed to be the rebirth of Motorola Razr in 2019.
The illustrations have been transformed into a series of high-resolution renderings, accompanied by an exciting new video. The Razr will retain the iconic flip-phone design with a second screen outside the phone’s casing. Just by opening the brand new Razr from Motorola, you will be able to recognize the changes they made.
New Motorola Razr Specs
The Motorola Razr 2019 will not have the same processing power as rival foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X. According to a report from XDA Developers, the new Motorola Razr will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 mobile platform. The report also states that the Razr will come with 4 or 6GB RAM and 64 or 128GB of storage.
With foldable phones making a comeback, it’s only a matter of time before smartphones will come in all shapes and sizes. Motorola might have won the flip phone competition in the past, but will it be able to compete against modern titans like Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi?
