Microsoft held a keynote event in October of last year. Many announcements were made, including the approaching release of Windows 10 Creators Update.
At that time, the big wigs only said they will be releasing the update in the first half of 2017. Now, thanks to an exclusive published by MSPowerUser, we know that it will be released this April 2017! The news was further corroborated by The Verge.
What We Know So Far
• Windows 10 Creators Update is also codenamed Redstone 2.
• The update started out with having a version number 1703 (signifying March 2017). With the April release, however, this number will be 1704.
• Roll out will be gradual for all Windows 10 users. Unfortunately, there is no talk yet of manually updating your system just in case you can’t wait to get your hands on the Redstone 2.
• By the end of January, it is also expected that the Creators Update will be part of any newly bought Windows 10 OS, but that it will be feature-locked until Microsoft is able to sort all of the kinks out.
• Microsoft is starting the development of Redstone 3 and the plan is to release that update by the end of this year.
These pieces of information are what we’ve gathered so far from reliable sources. However, things are still subject to change depending on the internal workings of Microsoft.
What Features Can We Expect from the Creators Update?
Based on its name, this OS update will be chock-full of features for everyone with a creative flair. Virtual reality headsets will come into play in a major manner as well.
Windows Holographic User Interface
Once you get the Creators Update, you will be able to strap on your virtual reality headset and interact with websites in VR! Right off the gate, Microsoft has already partnered with Remix3D and Sketchup. You can view your artistic creations in 3D easily.
Using the Microsoft Edge browser in conjunction with the VR headset will revolutionize the way you buy stuff online, once your system is running the Windows 10 Creators Update. Imagine this – you want to buy a new chair. With the 3D support, you can have that product image on screen transform into its 3D version, and then you can see how it will look like in your living room or kitchen!
Paint 3D and Windows Capture 3D
These are the other major cool things users will get from the Creators Update. Unleash your imagination and be as creative as you can by creating all sorts of 3D works! As of the moment, the use of a drawing tool is required, but soon you will be able to create 3D art via your Windows mobile phones too.
Improved Communications with People Who Matter
True, the Creators Update is largely meant for artists, but that does not mean it stops there. The update also promises to enhance communications and make that more people-centric. It will do this by enabling users to attach on the taskbar various profiles of the people they talk to constantly. Chatting will be so much easier and there will be plenty of fun message stickers too.
Three more months and we will be seeing the Creators Update in full glory. We can’t wait to test those cool features!
