How High Should a 75 Inch TV be Mounted?

To get the best viewing experience, you want the middle of your TV to be at eye level, which is usually around 42 inches high. That means a 75-inch TV should typically be mounted about 24 inches from the floor to the bottom of the TV.

To calculate how high you should mount your TV, you first need to find the center of your TV. Most 75-inch TVs are around 36.8 inches high, which means the center of your TV would be 18.4 inches high. Then subtract that number from your eye level, which is normally around 42 inches. That means you should mount your TV around 23.6 inches from the floor to the bottom of your TV.

Note: Keep in mind that a TV’s size is measured from corner to corner. So, you should not use your flatscreen’s 75-inch size to find its center point.

Using the floor as the starting point, measure up the wall and find the 42-inch mark. The middle point of your TV should be on this 42-inch mark. But, since it might be difficult to tell if your TV will work with your furniture, you can find the distance from the bottom of the TV to the floor instead.

Take note, however, that if you are taller or shorter than average, you will need to measure your own viewing eye level. To do this, sit on your couch and use a tape measure to find out how high your viewing eye level is. Then use this figure to adjust how high or low your TV should be mounted by following the formula above.

Now that you know how high your 75-inch flatscreen should be mounted, take a look at our step-by-step guide on how to mount your TV on the wall.
