Just because you install a smart speaker in one room, doesn’t mean you can’t use it in other rooms. All you need is a Bluetooth speaker, and you can carry Alexa with you and listen to your music around the home. Here’s how to connect Alexa to Bluetooth speakers and how to use an Alexa speaker to play music from your iPhone or other devices.
Before you connect Alexa to a Bluetooth speaker:
- Move your Bluetooth speaker: To connect a Bluetooth speaker with an Alexa speaker, it’s important to keep both devices less than 3 feet away from each other.
- Turn on pairing mode: For most Bluetooth speakers, you’ll need to press and hold the power button or a dedicated Bluetooth button to put it in “pairing mode.” In most cases, you’ll see a flashing light on your speaker when it’s in pairing mode.
How To Connect Alexa to Bluetooth Speakers
To connect your Alexa smart speakers to Bluetooth speakers, open the Alexa app and go to Devices. Then, select your Alexa speaker and tap Connect a device under Bluetooth Connections. Finally, select a Bluetooth speaker and wait for it to pair.
- Open the Alexa app. If you don’t already have the app, you can download it from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
- Then, go to Devices. You will see this at the bottom of your screen.
- Next, select your Alexa speaker. If you don’t see your Alexa speaker when you scroll down, try using the search filters or tap the magnifying glass icon to search for it by name.
- Then, tap Connect a device under Bluetooth Connections.
- Finally, select the device you want to connect. You will see a list of available devices that you can pair. If you don’t know what your device is called in the Bluetooth menu, check the device to see if there is a name or model number.
In this case, we are connecting to a Bluetooth speaker with the model number CK 207. This number can usually be found by looking at the bottom of the device.
The next time you want to use your Bluetooth speakers, you can simply say, “Alexa, connect my speaker.” Alexa will automatically pair with the last device connected to your Echo device. Your Bluetooth speaker might also automatically connect whenever it is in range.
How To Disconnect Alexa from a Bluetooth Speaker
To disconnect a Bluetooth speaker from Alexa, you can simply say, “Alexa, disconnect my speaker.” Otherwise, you can open the Alexa app, go to Devices, and select your Alexa speaker. Then select the Bluetooth speaker tap the arrow next to it, and select Discconect Device or Forget.

How To Use Your Alexa Speakers as Bluetooth Speakers
To use your Alexa speakers as Bluetooth speakers, you can simply say, “Alexa, turn on Bluetooth.” Then, go to the Bluetooth settings on your computer, smartphone, or tablet, and select your Alexa speaker from the list of devices. Alexa will let you know if a successful pairing was made.

How To Connect Alexa to Your iPhone
To connect Alexa to your iPhone, open the Settings app and go to Bluetooth. Then, scroll down and select your Alexa speaker. If this is your first time connecting your Alexa speakers, they will be listed under Other Devices. Alexa speakers will usually start with “Echo” and end with 3 letters and numbers.
Once you connect Alexa to your iPhone, you can play music on one Alexa speaker at a time. To do this, open your music app and tap the AirPlay button or the Bluetooth button. Then select your Alexa speakers from the list of available devices.
